I think I mentioned the talisman twice, while you guys were in the barrow.

It was supposed to help with something else, too...warding off some dark magic. ;D

Nimronyn [Sindarin Pale gleam] superior keen, superior grievous longsword - orc bane
Foe-slaying - when attacking a bane creature, reduce Edge of weapon by value of bearer's Valour

Skirmisher [if carried encumbrance is 12 or less, increase Parry by +3 when in close combat stance]

In everyone's defence, having Aryn (who probably took special note of it all and was waiting for his chance to use it) disappear for a while didn't help.

Do we have an update on him?

EDIT:
Quote from: tomcat on Aug 23, 2016, 05:27 PMOn the ground, still not himself, Ceawin sat with his legs to his chest, clutching the helm. "It is done," he said... over and over.

Do not let him keep that damn thing.

Funny thing was Grimbeorn was the one who got it but never needed it.

Sounds like Sunsteads problem now. Or we could usurp his rule and make Abrogast the ruler of Sunstead.
And before you dismiss that thought as frivolity it may have some merit.

1. He is a Woodman.
2. He has just raided a barrow and ended a threat to the people. In the heroic saga culture he has pretty much nailed the requirement for lordship as a protector of the people.
3. Their current guy is a numb nuts.

Also, what is up with Aryn?
THE GAME MUST GO ON!

Pretty sure that would count as a misdeed for Shadow purposes, though.  Probably a pretty hefty one.

Yea, I have every intention of taking care of you guys on this one.

Also, we need round up that treasure this poverty thing is for NPCs.

Who's Ash? I only know the one from Alien...and yes, I know, Bandy is ready to have his chest of gold.  ;)

Sorry I took Idunn out of the game when I did - I didn't want to deal with another player character that had no player. I don't mind running one - it actually gives me a way to interject into the character group (and present ideas or whatever), which can help PbP games move along - but I don't want to have to run two.

I am not sure what is up with Ayrn - he's gone again now for 10 days. I don't have a problem with player absences, I just need to know a player will be absent.

Quote from: GandalfOfBorg on Aug 24, 2016, 12:58 AMFunny thing was Grimbeorn was the one who got it but never needed it.

I had Idunn give it to you, Matt, because Grimbeorn was the only 'Woodsmen' around. She might like and trust Esgalwen, but she is not of the Vale. So, she gave it to Grimbeorn - who himself is rather magical. Anyway, that is the reason it came into his hands and I left it for you as a player to do with it what you wanted.

He would have scoffed at it as a false trinket.

This is kind of a cool idea...maybe something to think about, Paul.

On the subject of Ash-es, I recommend a book called Ash: A Secret History (by Mary Gentle) very highly.  You can get used copies quite cheaply these days.

Posterboy

Hey Guys,

I am sorry I haven't communicated here for a bit. Truthfully, I've been avoiding the site because my family stuff has ended up being more emotionally draining than I had anticipated and I didn't want to come across as flaky... so I was avoiding you all. I really love engaging in this game (in fact, all the games you've put together, Doug, have been a real joy for me to be a part of), and I guess that, due my past patterns of having to drop out due to real life, I am afraid that sooner or later you all will stop being patient with me and ask me not to come around any more.

I know that has not been the example you have set for me in the past, Doug. I know that you've always been really eager to find a place for me in your games and have really bent over backwards to include my characters in the story your creating. Thank you for that.

My apologies to each of you for not communicating what going on and for underestimating how my present RL struggles would impact my ability to play in this game.

Here's what's up: My wife and I are presently trying to work at reconciling with her family because they decided to call Child Protection Services with some concerns they had about one of our children's behaviour. CPS visited us and felt like my wife and I were adequately working with our child and did not feel like they need to get involved any further. Now, we've been working with her family to try and sort out what led to such a breakdown of trust. It's been especially painful for my wife, and has definitely been draining on my emotional/creative reserves. When I last wrote 10 days ago, I knew we were about to have another meeting with her family that I had hoped would bring us some resolution/reconciling, but it did not work out that way and instead feels like we have slid back to square one. This relational conflict has ended up consuming most of my wife's and my thoughts through most of our days.

So, that's what's up.

I love this story. I want to play this game with you all. I'm struggling to find time and creativity to write. I'm hoping I won't be in this space very long. I will definitely work at trying to communicate more clearly with you into the future.

Thanks guys!
Ayrn

Don't bust a gut on our account - we're just here pretending to be dwarves and such while you're dealing with serious problems.  Honestly, I'd forgotten about CPS' involvement.  I hope you guys can work something out between yourselves and your wife's family.  I think I speak for all of us when I say we'll welcome you back whenever you're ready.

I second Paul's post, Ayrn.

As much as you enjoy playing, I enjoy reading your contributions. Do what needs done for you guys and I will do everything I can to keep an interesting story going here.

Your character, Idunn, actually works as a part-time party member, as she is also a healer/loremaster and would spend off-time tending to her people. The point is, I can work her into the party when you have available time to play.

Cool?

I hope everything works out all right for your home - it's a bummer when family issues arise.
