The two stormtroopers go back to their business once Kara had passed, paying her little heed. She moved on quickly and disappeared into the other shuffling pedestrians.

:ooc: Hey Nick, I am not sure where Kara is heading... so give me some narrative of her goals when you get a chance.

Kara breathed a sigh of relief.  She looked around for a moment and then doubled back to try and find her group.  She had a bad feeling about this station, and she wanted to watch to see if anyone was tailing her new found friends.

:ooc:

Basically in my earlier post, I was trying to hide from the group so they wouldn't know I was going to double back and try to watch them and follow them.  Kara doesn't trust this situation.

:ooc: Okay cool - I went with the idea that she was off for a fix. Sorry. We can forget about the stuff in my posts save for what the station area looked like and running into the troopers.

"Let's eat," he said. "If nothing else, we'll get a lay of the land in there just in case."

Kaida nodded and followed Caden inside. The food she had eaten on the Aegis was about what one would expect: big on preservatives and supposed nutrition but definitely lacking on the taste side of the equation. She could use a real meal.

Sam followed them into the establishment (provided droids are allowed). He considered seeking out a droid pit, to look for some side work, but decided to wait until their situation was better established. Besides, that didn't work out too well last time.

BrianM

As they entered the restaurant, Brim realized he hadn't eaten anything but rations from the Aegis for quite some time. "I wonder if they serve any Rodian dishes in this establishment? I can't remember the last time I ate any Grurk eel intestines."

ZehnWaters

Britton was hungry too, but he was more worried about keeping an eye out.

:ooc:  Do I need to make another roll for inside the restaurant?

tomcat

The companions moved into the restaurant, first looking around and checking each level for any potential threats or opportunities. After they achieved a level of comfort, they sat and ate. The food was excellent and diverse. Sam watched from his position at the table as the biologicals ate and wondered at what the need for food must be like. He was certain it must be consistant with having one's inner battery charged, but still the idea of an intake of physical matter and the bilogical body breaking it down so that it could be absorbed and thus recharge itself seemed... inefficient. It was actually a weakness that Sam's inner programming mapped and then determined how best to exploit, but the droid quickly dismissed the results.

When done, they paid, thanked their server and then left. Back on the street they looked around. There was still plenty more locations to scout and the sooner they got it done, the sooner they could relax. From his position behind Kaida, Britton looked around and saw, across the street, the figure of Kara standing out of the way. She stood overwatching the restaurant and Britton realized she was keeping an eye out for any tails. He ignored her and turned the other direction, peering down the street where he saw two white-armored individuals standing post. As a soldier, he knew when a fellow soldier was on guard duty just by looking at their stance. The two stormtroopers were keeping a look around, but it was apparent that there was nothing in particular that they sought. They were just keeping the peace... hopefully.

Caden also saw the troopers and a chill ran down his spine. Was the Empire aware of their presence here? He tapped Sam on the shoulder and pointed in the opposite direction. The droid plotted a new route to the next location and they all moved off in the direction.

Kara followed along from a discreet, unassuming position.

By midnight, they had seen all there was to see within the non-high end establishments. If there was going to be a meeting, they knew it would have to be one of them. Now it was just time to wait. They had a day to do nothing and then another day to wait and see if the call came. Caden figured he'd use the time productively, as did a few others from the crew. The Imperial presence did not seem to be on the hunt for them, so they would just have to make sure they did nothing to arouse any interest.

:ooc:

Okay, the PC's have a full day to spend before the day of the meet. Then there is the length of day while waiting for a call... let me know what your PC's want to do to kill the time. Depending on the activity, we can roleplay out the time as needed. Here are some options:

Gambling at local casinos
Employment - there are a bunch of warehouses and tech shops that might take day laborers; there are traders in search of merchant vessels to move product or bring it in, etc.
Shopping - there is a huge market on Jovan of many types of items from all across the galaxy
Criminal activity - it's a big station filled with all sorts of people and thus shady dealings can be done.

Let me know.

Also, I am deducting 18 credits from all biologicals for their night out.

Boba Fett stepped back from the large Hutt sitting upon the dias. He had just made the formal greeting, showing deference to Jabba, to which the gangster nodded and actually smiled.

"Imp ohnta Boonta, Boba?" asked the Hutt. Boba responded, "The race was a bust Jabba, although I got my target."

"HA HA HA!" boomed the Hutt. "Miska pronta lowsa me cousah."

Boba nodded in thanks to his warden. Since his father's death and his escape from Dooku, Boba had found refuge within the house of Jabba the Hutt and even been given a great deal of work. It seemed that Jabba was in favor of the new colors in which Boba had painted his armor.

"I need some information, Jabba. You may be able to help." The Hutt listened intently to Boba as he queeried him regarding Varta and his dealings on Bakura. The large Hutt shook his head denying any knowledge of Varta's business, which Boba knew to be a lie, but Jabba did give an answer that would help. The translator droid spoke for him, "The great and powerful Jabba will make contact with Cradossk, leader of one of the Guilds. He owes him a favor and will certainly be able to provide you with any information on this mark."

Again Boba nodded. He bowed lower and strode from Jabba's throneroom.

It was later in the evening when the protocol droid came into Boba's chamber, "Please excuse the interruption. Jabba has sent me to inquire whether you find your accommodations satisfactory?"

"Satisfactory?" thought Boba, "They were fit for a prince... if one could be found on this dirty planet called Tatooine." His father, Jango, had done Jabba a great favor years past by removing a competitor, Gardulla the Hutt. Jabba had taken over as Boba's custodian to repay the now dead bounty hunter. To the droid he nodded, "It is quite satisfactory."

But Boba knew that Jabba would not send his droid here for mere pleasantries. He asked, "So, what has been found out?"

The droid answered, "The great and powerful Jabba has discovered that the targets in question have been acquired by a bounty hunter, Corbin Sallo. He has not reported as to where they are located, but Cradossk has informed Jabba that Sallo's ship has made heading to the space station Jovan, and is probably there by now."

"The Gordian Reach," thought Boba. "Far."

That was almost on the opposite side of the galaxy. Boba had only heard about Corbin Sallo, and what he had heard was that he was efficient. He needed to make a call. Boba excused the droid and went to his communicator, dialing in a frequency that he had been given. There was a response on the opposite end of someone connecting, but no words were spoken. Boba said two words, "Jovan Station," and the link went dead.

Fett began to gather his gear. If he was going to take this bounty, he would need to move fast. Sallo already had a substantial lead on him and there was no way Boba was going to let him take this mark.

Britton was tired of waiting around and not having a job, but while he may be restless, he also had no desire to leave Kaida all alone and in danger.  He'd wait to see what she wanted to do.

With tasks on the ship taken care of, Sam decided to pass the day constructively. He had given what credits he had left to Caden (and the IG droid). While he did not have mundane expenses for sustenance, he felt compelled to contribute to the effort. Sam decided to ply his tech skills and searched his map for a smaller shop, off the beaten path, that might specialize in electronics or something of the sort that he was good at. He passed himself off as a ship droid between stops and offered to demonstrate his skill if needed before an offer of employ was made.

The owner of the shop on Jovan Station looked Sam up and down. He was impressed with the droid's skills, but he was concerned about the fact that Sam was built on a B2 chasis and that he was completely independent. The mech had never dealt with droids in this capacity. Still he had work to get done and another set of competent hands would help.

"All right... you certainly have the programming for a mech, although you don't look like it. You got the job. I will pay 60 credits per hour for all work that is done efficiently. I have ten sub-light drives that are backed up and need diagnosed and repaired. You help me get through them all and there will be a bonus in it for ya!"

The repair shop owner waited for Sam's answer.

Caden was having a hard time trying to find the same companionship that he had with Kex. It wasn't that any of his companions were not likeable or trustworthy, they just were all still... new. Kara was the most efficient pilot he had had aboard the Aegis in a long time, but she was sore spot due to her vices, and Caden oftened wondered at her intent. Brim was getting close, but all the Bestinian knew of him was that he was running from the Empire. Kaida and Britton were off on their own, and Sam was a droid. He didn't mind that he was a droid, but how much human companionship came from that?

Now the man stood in a dingy office waiting for the amount he would be paid if he hauled the starship parts across the galaxy. In his heart, Caden knew the stuff was hot, even though the trader insisted that it was all legit. But Caden had to go to low end dealers and merchants due to his ship no longer having a dependable license - at least one that he felt comfortable giving to a merchant who was tied to the B.O.S.S.

"All right... let's see.... I have a total of 20 tons and you can handle 25." The toydarian tapped his clawed finger on the counter. "I will give you 400 credits per ton payable to your account upon delivery. Understand that that amount is for no loss or discovery." The trader lifted an eyebrow and eyed Caden.

This was it. He was about to immerse himself in contraband.... illegal activities. Was it worth 8,000 credits? He wished Kex were here to help him with the decisions.

:ooc: Don, I will post again as soon as I am home with my books for the tests I need you to roll.

Shawn, this is your PC... let me know if you wanna take the deal. You can, of course, say no, or haggle, or find a different trader.

Britton, Kaida, Kara, and Brim... if there is something you guys wanna be doing over the day, let me know.

Brim rounded the corner and stood looking into the dingy alleyway, one of many aboard Jovan station. Something had drawn him to this particular alleyway though. He knew that within it's shadowed length lay his destiny. He was prepared to face Whatever was there.

The Rodian walked lightly into the shadows, alert for any other presence. He almost missed it, but at the last second he caught the movement to his left, along with the snap-hiss and red glow of the lightsaber. It slashed low, impossibly fast, and Brim's own green blade was ignited just in time to block a blow that would have severed his leg. His attacker's blade was close enough to sear his clothing and the skin beneath, however, before Brim pushed back and regained his balance, biting back the pain from the near hit.

His attacker laughed, taunting him. "I see you have learned, padawan, but it will not be enough." In the glow of the blades, Brim saw that it was the cloaked Jedi, the one who had murdered his friend Dan. The Rodian was filled with rage, and launched a frantic attack spinning high, then low. He was fast, but the cloaked Jedi was faster. Every attack was parried effortlessly, and all the while the laughter continued.

They ended up face to face, their blades crackling with energy as they pressed against each other. Brim saw only hatred and evil in the face of his enemy, and he returned a look of determined resolve. The dark Jedi's laugh changed suddenly to a vicious snarl, as he prepared to finish off the Rodian with a final, devastating attack.

But Brim knew something the dark Jedi did not. He feinted when his enemy thrust, falling backwards and dropping low to the ground. He twisted his green blade out of the way of the attack, allowing the red blade to slide into the duracrete surface of the alleyway. As he twisted, the Rodian activated the second blade from the opposite end of the grip, slicing sideways into the abdomen of the dark Jedi. The enemy, wide eyed with surprise, let out a final hiss of breath before slumping to the ground.

***

Brim blinked and the familiar surroundings of the Aegis' cargo hold returned. While he did not sweat as humans did, he felt the fatigue from  the workout throughout his body. He stared at the length of pipe he had been practicing with. Today had been different. The images in his mind had been so detailed. The lightsaber ... his lightsaber, had felt so real in his hands. Some day he would make this device. He knew the ability was within him.

The Rodian replaced the pipe onto the stack of spare parts, perhaps with more reverence than was really necessary, then returned to his quarters to meditate.

:ooc: Nice post Brian.  ;D

Don, I adjusted the rate of hourly pay to be more consumate with the job generator in the Scum and Villainy book... problem is, Sam knows the going rate for mechs is about 100-120 an hour. The store owner is cutting the wage probably because Sam is a droid. If you accept the work, here is how it will go:

There are 10 engines that need repaired (in HP's) of the following amounts - 12, 15, 10, 7, 8, 6, 11, 5, 4, 3

Each hour a Mech roll may be made at DC 20. Each success will give the following results based on degree of success:

Dice result range:
10 - will be a catastrophic failure causing the engine an additional 1d6 in damage... will receive no pay
15 - will be a disastrous failure causing the engine an additional 1d4 in damage... will receive no pay
19 - will be a failure but no additional damage to engine but hour used... may receive no pay
20 - Success, hour spent and 1d8 in HP's may be applied to engines (meaning if you roll 4 on d8, you could repair engine 9 completely; repair engine 10 and then apply the remaining 1 point to another engine; or apply all 4 points to an engine with higher damage, etc.)
25 - Superior Success hour spent and 2d6 in HP's may be applied to engines
30 - Extraordinary success half an hour spent and 2d8 in HP's may be applied to engines

Sam can work for however many hours he wants - the owner will not close the shop. If Sam can repair all the engines in 10 hours, he will recieve double his hourly rate plus 200 credits.
