The gathered crew of the Aegis watched as a multiple squadrons of fighter craft began to make lazy figure eight patterns above the city, blocking any potential launch of a starship. With the fighters in place, a larger landing vessel broke away from the rest and proceeded to fly down to the governmental district of Cloud City, along with a four tie-fighter escort. Each wondered at Caden's remarks - was the Empire here for them? Could their location could have possibly been identified so quickly?

It did not seem likely, but whatever the reason, departure from Bespin would no longer be easy. To Britton it seemed more of a tactic of shock and awe. The soldier realized that the expansionest Empire was making strides to bring the entire galaxy under its boot, and this could be nothing more than their attempt to terrorize the inhabitants and government officials. Looking up at the massive star destroyer, Britton knew that they would surely be successful.

The sky suddenly bloomed with puffs of black and red, as a couple of pilots, flying the twin-pod cars of Cloud City, got overzealous and attacked the Imperial fighter craft. The results were striking as first a tie-fighter bloomed into an explosion, and then the pod cars were overwhelmed and blown from the sky. The resounding booms were terrible to hear, and it was awful to watch as the falling debris crashed onto the city below.

Everyone continued to gaze in awe, but Sam's receptors suddenly caught movement close to them, at the entrance to their landing pad. The droid focused his attention there and saw as the dockmaster pointed at the Aegis and then ran away. Left standing there, ignoring the chaos that was going on above, stood the IG-35 droid, its cold red eyes staring towards the ship. Behind it stood a number of droids and hired ruffians.

It looked like the crew faced more problems than just Imps.

... stood the IG-35 droid ...

:ooc: Gotta pic for the IG-35? Are we familiar with it? I didn't see a description anywhere on the internet.

:ooc: I'm assuming it is similar in style to IG-88.

Kara shook her head.

"Typical Imperials, get blown out of the sky by a Cloud Car, and then swarm around with numbers to kill the target.  Never know what a fair fight is."

"Terrific," sighed Caden as he looked out the cockpit window at the droid and the scruffy-looking fellows behind it. "Who are these jokers?"

Although he didn't want to, Caden realized that he was going to have to meet these folks face to face.

"Somebody get on the turret and cover me," he suggested. "Anyone know what this might be about... anyone wanna come with me to find out?"

Kara checked her concealed holster to make sure that her blaster was in place, she pulled it out quickly powered it up and checked the power pack.  She slid it back into the holster and nodded at Caden.

"I'll back you up, but we probably should take another person or two."

"He's a droid I dealt with looking for info on Varta. Can't understand what his problem is...we settled up. Maybe he wants to hire you?"
Sam walked beside Caden and attached his blaster pistol to his hip holster mount. He tossed the tail of his coat behind it to leave it clearly visible and scanned for available cover as they descended to the docking platform.

"I'll cover you on the turret," Britton responded.  Before he left he turned to Kaida.  "You gonna be alright?"

"It looks like he's already hired some help," Caden said gruffly.

Kaida watched in horror from the cockpit at the descending imperials, and she saw all over again in her mind's eye her home planet attacked--thousands killed just because her planet had stood against the Empire. She stood rigid for a moment then she shook herself and spoke in a low fierce whisper to Caden.

"Captain, Any chance we can escape before the imps arrive? I really don't want to--" Then she broke off as she too noticed the newcomers out of the cockpit window.

More trouble. As if the imperials weren't bad enough. But maybe there was a way to defuse the situation. To stop it from coming to blows.

"I'll come with you," she said grimly to Caden.

Diplomacy, she had learned, was always best when backed up with more than empty words. With that thought in mind, she too checked her heavy blaster pistol and followed Caden.

At Britton's query, she nodded. "I'll be fine." She wished her insides would believe it. The Empire's sudden arrival had shocked her and the rough-looking lot approaching their ship didn't help the lurching feeling that fluttered in her stomach. But she steeled herself for the encounter, and gave a warm smile. "Thanks," she added, and then moved past him.

Imperial Task Force ... ruffians with bad intentions ... things just aren't going our way today ...

Brim jogged down the corridor from the bridge to his quarters. He thought about the hold out blaster Dan had given him, but decided more firepower might be required and strapped on Dan's standard blaster, which the Rodian had kept since the fateful day his friend was lost and all of their lives were turned upside down.

While the others descended, Brim remained within the ship near the exit. In his experience, the presence of a Rodian often led to difficulties when it came to negotiations.
