Whelp.... Scene two and one explosion later and we have already uncovered Crowe's moral and philosophical puzzle with replicants.

I'n not certain on how accurate it is. I found a Lakota translator online. He was basically rambling about the sun, water, and ceremonies.

Paul's comment on Replicants is 100% correct. I have kind of been looking at them like Androids.

I'll have to rethink my whole approach now.

Paul, would you imagine replicates to be similar to clone troopers from Star Wars? Or at least more similar to the bioengineering done on Kamino, not exactly cloning. Also, are all the body parts that we found usable on regular humans or just replicants? Like, if Crowe had lost his eye, would the doctors have been able to replace it like they did for Elly?

My guess is replicants dont have to worry about organ rejection.

Alright.  *cracks knuckles*  Time for a bit of OOC worldbuilding, and bear in mind here that I need to draw a distinction between what is known, what is widely known, and what your characters know.  The following list is the latter - more than the average person, less than what Wallace Corporation keeps inside its walls. 


• Replicants are bioengineered, but not precisely clones - each one is unique at the genetic level.  There's some technical reason for this that Wallace Corp, and Tyrell before it, always kept quiet about.
• Product lines known or expected to be big sellers are produced as subassemblies - often by subcontractors - and assembled in Wallace HQ among other, smaller facilities. 
• To make this work, replicant tissue is designed to be almost impossible to reject (a Nobel-worthy achievement in synthetic biology, if the Nobel prizes were still being awarded).
• You could, in theory, transplant replicant tissue or entire organs into a human body.  In practice, some of the transgenic features of replicant subassemblies (denser bones and muscles, rumours of much more exotic things besides) mean that this carries additional risks not seen in human-to-human donation.
• Also, for purely cultural reasons, most people would freak the fuck out if they learned they'd been given non-human organs.  Think of how people in the 19th or early 20th century might have felt about receiving an organ from an African-American person, and then factor in that replicants are literally not human.
• That said, a dirty little secret among LA's medical profession is that blood donation is a thing of the past.  In this city, at least, 0- replicant blood is so cheap and readily available that it's used instead.  There's probably a fair bit of it sloshing around Crowe's veins right now.

Interesting, I think the Replicants are kind of like Traveller RPG, in some ways its future is built around a past concept of what that might be. For instance I'd probably have some time of wifi or AI search capability in a replicant, but that wasnt around when the idea came up.

Its an interesting exercise to try and see replicants in the same sense that someone in this world would see them. The fact that they blend in so easily is part of the terror and makes sense why the Cyborgs were blue in Hyperion so that people could ID them right away.

Depends on the model.  Almost all of them are built to be more resilient - nobody wants an expensive product that's going to break easily.  Some really basic models are otherwise near human baseline.  Others - especially those intended for military or intelligence work, are superior to humans in almost every way.  It'd be interesting to see what Elly thinks of her own product line.

Blade Runner is a definite retro-future now.  I recall the celebrations on the day that the first film officially became alternate history.
