Hathcyn went out to the field with Viglar and stripped the wargear from the dead soldier and wrapped him in his cloak. He placed both piles into the boat they would take up river. Hathcyn intended to take the farmer with them as well. He wanted to deliver the body of the slain man to Mogdred, have the farmer give his testimony to the Elders, and cast the wargear of the slain into the center of the river as a gift to Dusk Shadow for having been insulted by these men and avenged by the Longspear.
