Situation: Holed up in the Millfort, the company plans to deal a wicked sting to the Spiders of Mirkwood!

Attercops
Hunters
Tauler

Combat Advantage dice:
Esgalwen 0 / 2
Rorin 0 / 2

Situation Modifiers:
• The Company has initiative
• The hatch is covered with webs - TN 10 to hit and 10 END to clear
• Front door is at 39/60
• Back door is at 31/60

Physical Modifiers (complications):
The Millfort is impregnable save for five locations.

A) Each door has been successfully repaired and has 60 END points each (FRONT 60/60; BACK 55/60). No spiders can get in them until they reduce the doors to 0 END and then roll a Piercing attack that overcomes a 3d armor rating.

B) Each window is a vantage point that allows an attack out (and in). Ranged weapons may be fired out and the defending archer gains the Rearward DEFENSE, but may use the Open ATTACK TN. Overwhelming numbers of enemies do not affect ranged combat while the defenses hold. Melee weapons may be used to attack out (and in) but the defenders gain the Defensive DEFENSE TN rating, but may use the Forward ATTACK TN. Attackers from the outside may return a melee attack through a window, but may NOT enter the fort.

C) The hatch has been successfully repaired and has 40 END points. No spiders can get through it until they reduce the hatch to 0 END and then roll a Piercing attack that overcomes a 2d armor rating.

D) The floor has been successfully repaired and has 20 END points. No spiders can get through it until they reduce the floor to 0 END and then roll a Piercing attack that overcomes a 1d armor rating.

E) The stone roof of the fort is compromised - there is a large hole here. The second floor offers little defense and any PC that decides to fight on the second floor will not be eligible for vantage defenses once spiders come through the hole in the roof. Ranged combat WILL be affected by overwhelming numbers, if the archer positions themselves here, instead of on the first floor.

IF the first floor defenses are compromised, vantage benefits are lost as the spiders enter the room. There will be NO opening volleys, as the things coming in the night are invisible in the trees.

Eclecticon

The Fire-Watcher's heart falls as new webs cover the only hope of escape.  He sees it now: while the beaks of the hunters press them hard, it is the lesser creatures which have trapped them.  So long as the attercops remain in the fray, there will be no escape for him.  Nor will there be for Grimbeorn, who even now bares his teeth in a wordless challenge to that which is forcing is way into the fort.

His course is clear, and his arm is yet strong.  He raises once more the Dwarf-axe and narrows his eyes, waiting for an opening.

:ooc: So, Arbogast will concentrate on the attercops until they're gone.

The Halfling spared a glance up the stairs and saw that there were plenty of hands available to open the way. He noted as well that he was the only one remaining to defend the downstairs. He scanned the windows lookkng for an a target and let fly with his arrow.

Esgalwen watched as spider silk was draped once more over the opening. She slashed at it to clear the way again for her friends, but they still did not come.

"Move now! We will make sure the way is clear, but you must come through."

:ooc: Esgalwen will hack at the webs again...her suggestion is that in the next round, even if webs are re-weaved, let her and Rorin go first and they will make sure the way is clear for you.

The two companions quickly removed the blockage and beckoned for their friends to come. Behind them. Bofri moved down the stairs to join Bandy in the lower chamber. The Dwarf mumbled to himself in his weariness, "We can't fall...no...I just attained the staff. The Dwarven Road will be made whole once more."

Above him, Arbogast and Grimbeorn were now surrounded and the spiders pounced.

:ooc: PC results

• Arbogast has a 13 success (with a Hope point spent  :csu:) for 5 END loss on Attercop 7 [DEAD]

• Bandy has a 14 success for 7 END loss on Attercop 15 [DEAD]

• Grimbeorn achieves a 23 great success on Tauler for 13 END loss [47/60]

:ooc: Paul posted before I hit send and so all of the rolls are considered tampered - sorry guys, I forgot to check to see first.

anyway... results:

• front door is unaffected

• back door takes a 17 great success hit and thus 9 END loss [31/60]

• Attercop rolled a :g: which is a 0 for the Enemy, and thus does not weave sufficient webbing to block the hatch

• Hunter 1 rolled a 19 success against Arbogast; it spends a Hate point to increase the END damage to 10

• Hunter 5 missed

• Hunters 3, 4, 6 all missed Grimbeorn - I copied and pasted the information from Arbogast's attackers, but they were attacking Grimbeorn

• Tauler rolled a 22 success against Grimbeorn; it spends a Hate point to increase the END damage to 14
