MASS COMBAT
:~~: One of the East Bight-men is slain. If rolled again in the following round, Ceawin is gravely wounded.
1, 2The allies are hard-pressed to hold the enemy back. One of the East Bight-men is wounded – or, if any are already wounded, then one of them is slain. The defensive circle is being pressed - if this is rolled again, the spiders also slay a horse.
3, 4The East Bight-men hold their line and keep fighting.
5, 6The allies fight bravely, pushing the enemy back. Black spider blood spills across the forest floor. If this result is rolled twice in a row, then the allies slay one of the spiders!
7, 8 One of the spiders is slain.
9, 10 Two of the spiders is slain.
:g:Three of the spiders are slain.

Eclecticon

Sweat is making his grip on his axe unsure, and the stale air of the deep forest is rank in his lungs, but Arbogast fights on.  He tries to follow the progress of the battle behind him from the sounds, but it is all an undifferentiated din of panic and pain.

As the spiders continue to harry him, he imagines he hears their chittering voices speaking of "...hurt, but flesh before us!  Food for us, and food for our eggs!"  Or does he imagine it?  For the wearier he becomes, the stronger the sense of understanding seems to be...

:ooc: I'm still attacking the injured spider.  Hopefully this will be the end of it!

:ooc: Oh sure, now I get a great success.  His Damage score is only 2, but every little bit helps.

Also, I've just noticed that you still have me down as having an advantage die.  I used that sucker last round.  Not a criticism - I just don't want to forget and obtain an unjustified advantage.

With the spider's web wrapped all around his lower body, Rorin nearly lost his balance after swinging his hammer. But luck was with him this day, as he fell towards the ground the mass of the spider's body leapt through the air where Rorin's head had been just a moment earlier. He quickly righted himself and tried to catch the creature while it was recovering from it's failed attack.

With no more of the creatures immediately threatening her, Idunn took her spear's keen edge to the thick webs that held her fast.

Not far away, Esgalwen saw as Grimbeorn moved into a defensive position between her and the spider attacking her. The Beorning had swung his axe in an arc to fend off the attercop that had been harassing him and moved to defend her. Weariness filled her arms and pain filled her abdomen where she had been stung. Like Idunn, she took advantage of Grimbeorn's aid and quickly cut at the webs that had her ensnared.

For Esgalwen, I am calling in her trait Adventurous to gain an auto-success for her TN 13 Athletics roll. It says her spirit is called upon whenever her mettle is put to the test. I can't think of a greater test at the moment than trying to survive.

If anyone disagrees with this call or knows of a rule that states that traits can't be called on in combat, while wounded, or weary, please chime in.
